Commercial motorized patio screens, like Phantom Motorized Screens, are retractable exterior screens that lower from a slim housing to enclose a restaurant, brewery, winery or lounge patio, then retract out of sight when they are not needed. Staff run them with a remote, wall switch, smartphone or automatic sun and wind sensors.
Each opening can use clear vinyl to block wind, cold and light rain while keeping the view, solar mesh to cut heat and glare, privacy mesh to block sightlines and UV, or insect mesh to keep bugs out. That turns outdoor seating into revenue on days you would otherwise close the patio.

How much do commercial motorized patio screens cost?
Phantom Motorized Screens start at $3,000 per screen. Most commercial patios need several screens, and clear vinyl, very wide openings and automation add to the cost, so every commercial project is quoted after a free site walk.
What screen materials are available for commercial patios?
Clear vinyl to block wind, cold and light rain while keeping the view; solar mesh to cut heat and glare; privacy mesh to block sightlines and UV; and insect mesh to keep bugs out while letting air through. Many patios mix materials side by side.
Can clear vinyl screens keep a restaurant patio warm in winter?
Yes. Lowered clear vinyl blocks wind and holds in heat from patio heaters, so guests stay comfortable on cold or breezy nights. Vinyl is not an insulated wall, so heaters are still recommended in winter.
Is the clear vinyl fire rated?
Phantom’s clear vinyl meets NFPA 701, ASTM E84 Class A and California State Fire Marshal Title 19 fire ratings. We provide spec sheets for your landlord, insurer or fire department.
Can one opening have both clear vinyl and mesh?
Yes. Phantom’s dual roller system holds clear vinyl on one roller and insect or solar mesh on the other in the same housing, so you can switch between an enclosed patio and an open, screened patio.
How large an opening can a motorized screen cover?
Phantom Motorized Screens cover openings up to 40 feet wide. Clear vinyl sizes vary, so long patios usually get several screens side by side, all run from one control.
Will the screens hold up to wind and rain?
Screens block wind and light rain in normal use. In high winds or storms they should be raised, and a Somfy wind sensor can retract them automatically to protect the screens and motors.
Do I need a permit to enclose a restaurant patio?
It depends on your city, your lease and how the patio is used. Enclosing outdoor dining can affect building, fire and outdoor dining permits, so check with your city and landlord first. We supply product specs and fire-rating documents for your application.
Can you install without shutting down the business?
Yes. We schedule installation around your service hours, and most screens mount to existing posts and beams, so disruption is kept to a minimum.
